Step-by-step registration checklist

Registering a Toiminimi (TMI)

(Estimated time: 15-45 Minutes)

✅ Step 1: Go to YTJ.fi

✅ Step 2: Choose “Start a business / Perusta yritys” prh

✅ Step 3: Fill in personal details

✅ Step 4: Choose business name

✅ Step 5: Select registers :

—> Prepayment register

—> Vat register

—> Employer register (only if hiring)

✅ Step 6: Pay registration fee (if needed) —> prh (TMI is free, Oy requires a fee)

✅ Stel 7: Submit & save confirmation

Checklist after Submission

✅ Save your Y-tunnus (Business ID)

✅ Set up prepayment tax on Mytax (vero.fi)

✅ Prepare to open a business bank account

Common Mistake : - Forgetting to register for the prepayment register—> leads to withheld payment from clients.

Registering a Osakeyhtiö

Estimated time : 30-90 minutes ( Documents included)

✅ Step 1: Create founding documents

—> Articles of association

—> Share capital decision (0€ allowed)

—> Share holder info

✅ Step 2: Register on YTJ

✅ Step 3: Upload documents

✅ Step 4: Pay the PRH fee (€280 online)

✅ Wait 1 - 3 days for approval

After approval checklist

✅ Save your business ID (Y-tunnus)

✅ Register for VAT / prepayment tax

✅ Open company bank account

✅ Start bookkeeping setup
